Have no clue what the 1 star review was about - I just got off the phone with Chad. I found him through a Google search and he hasn't done any work for me, but I spent 20 minutes on the phone with him to give him an idea of the work I wanted done and he gave me a rough budget price to know how much to add to a potential land sale in Morganton NC so I can break a tract up into two separate plots and give each a private entrance rather than upgrading the current road and having the future owners deal with right of ways and easements. He'll be my first call if I end up breaking up the tract into different pieces.

Excellent service at a fair price. Chad was incredibly thorough and attentive to detail with our new homesite preparation. I found him highly knowledgeable and trustworthy. We started clearing the land without a firm design on the house layout and location. As we made progress, he was able to provide different options and directions as he worked towards completion. It was clear that along the way, he very much cared about doing the job right and making sure we were pleased with the final result. Highly recommend!

We had Appalachian Excavating & Grading take care of all the clearing and grading for the construction of our new home in Granite Falls. Chad and his team did an outstanding professional job on all work they performed. Chad answered all of my questions, offered several suggestions, and had ideas that really helped our construction project. His communication throughout the project was excellent. The team at Appalachian Excavating are honest, hard working, dependable and take pride in getting the job done right. Working with Scottie and Brett was one of the highlights of the project - these guys come to work and get the job done right! I highly recommend them and will be using Chad and the team for any future projects.

The impact that this company had on my property was absolutely transformational. Pictures cannot do it justice. I contacted Appalachian Excavating and Grading for their forestry mulching service. I had over an acre and a half of overgrown, densely populated, DEAD Christmas trees that I took ownership of upon purchase of my property. For more than two years I toiled over how I'd effectively rid my property of the eyesore and fire hazard - not to mention the untapped building potential! A series of happenstances led me to Appalachian Excavating and Grading, where I learned that heavy-duty, commercial equipment was accessible for hire in residential applications... at a reasonable price. Can you imagine my surprise? Problem solved! What I hadn't prepared for was the mastery that the operator (Chad) would bring to the job site. Ignoring the fact that he came in UNDER estimate, he treated my property like it was his own. He meticulously reshaped the landscape using the most violently effective machines I've ever experienced in person. It was like watching a monk prune a bonsai tree, with a chainsaw - but at a much larger scale. I feel truly fortunate to have had access to Appalachian Excavating and Grading services. My property will never be the same as a result of it. And I'm eagerly looking forward to the next few acres of clearing we have slated. Full disclosure: Coordinating time to be onsite while the work was being done was difficult, but not impossible. Be patient. Moving 12k+ pounds of machinery through the winding mountains to carve a picturesque scene out of a grotesque landscape is well worth the wait.

Chad did a great job for us. We have a fairly steep grade from the road to the house, but Chad carved a driveway down to the building site that looks and works great. His attention to the drainage kept us from having any washouts or erosion issues and made the final paving easy. He was very helpful in getting the final grade of the house established and he has always gone above and beyond with providing solid recommendations for other contractors to help us complete the house. We couldn't have done it without him.
