Working for a local government we're always looking for ways to make the best use of the revenue we receive from the taxpayers. This machine does that! We have owned our Asphalt Zipper going on about 8 years now and have been able to rebuild right around 5 miles of roadway mostly in house. I've seen the big reclaimers and crews it takes to operate them, and the Asphalt Zipper does the same exact job, but makes it so small, and big, municipalities can make do jobs that would normally cost thousands! Here in Point Township in Central PA, we are burdened with the freeze/thaw cycle almost 5 months out of the year which takes a toll on our roads. Most of the roads in PA and I'm sure in other states were not always built with good bases and that is where a lot of our failures start. Over the years our Township has done what it could with the money we had to make sure our roads are safe and passable to the traveling public. Layer upon layer of oil, tar and chip, stone and seal coats make up most of our roads with little to no base. Some of our roads are even chipped right over clay. After having a demo with Asphalt Zipper, which their reps are top notch individuals and very knowledgeable, on a short section of road, we knew this was the machine for us!! We are able to take the material that is already there and rework it to create a base that we can then build on. That is a huge cost savings not only from a hauling standpoint, but it cuts the material we would otherwise have to purchase to build a base almost down to nothing. It takes us roughly a day to 2 days to do a mile of road 20 feet wide making multiple passes depending on the geometry of the road. Usually, we are a three-man crew, one operator and one guy walking in front of the machine controlling the machine. Our machine at the time was one of the first of its kind and had a lot of new features on it. We did have an issue with a belt tensioner. However, their service department is in my opinion unmat

We have owned our Zipper now for right at a year and have used it for nearly 20 miles of rock and oil sand roads. It has significantly impacted the amount of work that we are capable of doing both in material cost savings and man hours. Barry and Brad have set the bar as far as customer service and have delivered everything as promised. Would definitely recommend it.

Asphalt Zipper completed a demo project for the City of Dallas, TX in in October 2021 and we were so impressed with the unit that we ordered three (3) total units (1–AZ720Xi and 2–AZ420X) which were delivered in early 2022. The 72” zipper is utilized for primarily for smaller street projects and the 42” units are primarily utilized for our alley reclamation program. We are excited to expand our operations with the small, compact, but powerful reclaimers that allow us to stretch our dollars with the cost savings.

We’ve used the Asphalt Zipper on numerous projects within Archer Co in the two years we’ve had it, rehabbing gravel roads as well as full depth reclamation. The minor issues we encountered when we first began to use it was taken care of immediately with just a phone call to Barry. Since then, it has worked flawlessly. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results we’ve experienced. We couldn’t be happier with the service we’ve received from Barry and Asphalt Zipper.

Asphalt Zipper has transformed our road maintenance program. we reclaim roads instead of rebuilding them. Potholes have become indicators of road health. Reusing material we already own, roads are reclaimed instead of rebuilt at a fraction of the cost.
