While driving down Route 15 (James Madison Hwy) in Zions Crossroads, near the intersection of Spring Creek Subdivision and Stonegate Apartments, Chemung Contracting was actively paving the road and had one lane shut down. Traffic was directed to drive on the opposite side of the road — and as a direct result, my white truck was completely covered in asphalt and tar. The entire lower half of my truck, my wheels, plastics on the tow mirrors, and likely the entire undercarriage are now coated in black pavement material. This is not superficial dirt — it’s industrial material that bonds to paint, plastic, and metal. Over time, it will cause corrosion, paint failure, and permanent staining. Even if the truck is professionally detailed, experts have told me there’s no guarantee that all of it will ever come off. The damage is lasting. I immediately contacted VDOT, who confirmed I should report the issue directly to Chemung Contracting. Since September 26, I have repeatedly called, texted, and emailed the company. I’ve provided photos, a written quote from a professional detailing service, and a quote for mirror replacement. Weeks later, nothing has been resolved. Their most recent communication stated that I should pay out of pocket for the detailing first, after which they would “inspect” my truck before even considering reimbursement. That is absurd and completely unacceptable — especially when the damage occurred as a direct consequence of their own active paving operations. This situation is not just frustrating — it’s negligent. Chemung Contracting has demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and integrity. A reputable company would have immediately accepted responsibility, coordinated an inspection, and ensured the vehicle was restored to pre-incident condition. Instead, they’ve delayed, deflected, and ignored clear evidence. I am now documenting this publicly as a formal record of their failure to take responsibility for damage caused b

I'm a paving contractor and have been a customer since 1995....never had a problem till just recently....Ive. been purchasing material both Asphalt & Stone from the quarry side for years...The last few years new plant operators have been coming and going and most don't seem to know what they're doing....lack of communication with customers is a big factor.....I waited one hour to get loaded and when I did get loaded the mix was cold.....I asked the operator Did you just drop cold mix in my dump truck?....He told me it was in the silo since yesterday.....when i told him I Didn't want it...He said that I still had to pay for it....I told him absolutely not and dumped it at the left over pile.....also in my opinion..the Asphalt I noticed isn't as good as it used to be with all the recycled asphalt being put back in the "New" material...it seems to unravel and hard to work with....I hate to say it ...I really do believe Chemung contracting Customer service and Asphalt quality has deteriorated and went down the tube the last few years.....its a shame because ive been a loyal customer all those years....Customer Loyalty is out the window with Chemung....I definitely will not be doing any more business with them in the future & do not recommend anyone else to either.
