City Service Paving

To be completely honest, this is something I loathe having to do, leaving a bad review but I feel a compelling need to warn others. I was the president of the HOA that I resided in for most of the 25 years I lived there in San Diego County. I am also a design/build general and specialty contractor designer/project manager/site supervisor with numerous municipal, mining and energy projects all over the world, from Abu Dhabi, Hastings England, Saga Japan and all over Australia, etc. etc. On the home front, our HOA needed re-paving. The scopes of work were abundantly clear with construction drawings, etc. Two support projects were cancelled after these people doubled our pricing on mission critical details that needed to get done after we were committed to working with them. Come installation day, I wandered out to check on things only to discover that they were NOT doing a full asphalt replacement as contracted, they never made an attempt to tell us that it wasn't feasible due to an overly moist sub-grade. That's fine, but we contracted for four (4) inches and got two (2) but were steadfastly invoiced for all four (4) inches. I was on-site during the installation and everything was looking wrong, right down to a complete joke of a tack coat layer intended to bond the original surface to the new surface (to prevent de-lamination). When their (now former) sales rep/project manager spotted me, he and his goons became furious that I was noticing what was going on and demanded that I depart from the site, citing a concern for my "personal safety". It was too late by then, I had a trove of data/images that I used to prepare a 12 page report of my findings that was submitted to an independent 3rd party paving expert that we hired. My report was vindicated and even more issues were identified that I had overlooked (paving is not my primary wheelhouse). They had departed from most all standard paving conventions. Horrible paving company blew all of their mess and trash from from their job site on to our property and all over the cars and did not bother to clean up when I asked what paving company he was with he said city service paving that hes part owner once I told him my issues he said he was with Ben's paving no one should be hiring these guys with such unprofessional characteristics

I had a great experience working with this company. From the sales reps and office staff to the crew on-site, everyone was skilled, friendly, and respectful. They really took pride in their work and made sure I was happy with every step of the process. I’ll definitely be hiring them again, and I’ve already recommended them to a few friends!

Excellent quality work with experienced and well mannered employees. From the sales department to office staff to the crew workers, my experience was one that will keep me coming back to them for any and all future projects. Highly recommend!

Mike came out and did a large job. There were spots that needed to be touched up. Over all it was a mediocre job, that could have been rather good. However after they were paid they stopped calling me back and answering my calls . Do not use this company.
