HR&E MASONRY

I hired them to do a stamped concrete patio. The work was supposed to be done in May but they didn’t get to it until July. I was patient about that. They had to tear out the section in front of the porch and redo it because the grade was wrong and water running toward the house. Because of that, they couldn’t get the stamped design to match with the rest. Still, I was patient. They didn’t color the concrete but they colored over it and sealed it, not giving it enough time to thoroughly dry first. This resulted in terribly uneven color with some spots a completely washed out white. They spattered concrete all over my Trex steps. I texted to ask if they knew what I could safely use to remove it. No response. I wasn’t even asking them to do it. I did my own research and found what I needed to buy to remove it. Another added expense. Water still pools in one corner of the part they redid. Within a few months, the color was flaking off all over the patio. I reached out again, sent photos, and again, no response as whatsoever. I had someone experienced in concrete work look at it and he said they should have colored the concrete. I had him color and seal it and it looks better than it ever did. The color is even, no white blotches. Because they didn’t do it right originally, we will probably have to do this every 2 or 3 years. He also noticed just by looking at it that the grade is not right. Nothing can be done about that now. I regret ever hiring this company run by Chris Wampler. To not even respond to my questions or concerns shows a lack of integrity. I have since talked to several others who have had problems with them. They seem to be more interested in the big jobs and squeeze in the “smaller” ones. There are good reputable and knowledgeable people out there. Please save yourself headaches and regret and don’t hire HR&E.

We hired HR&E Masonry to extend our driveway and are so happy that we did! We ended up redoing our entire driveway and are very pleased with how it turned out. Chris, the owner, checked in throughout the entire process, introduced us to the foreman of our job and stayed in contact after it was completed. The crew on our job was hard working and overall great guys. We are very happy with the entire process and would highly recommend HR&E to anyone looking for excellent workmanship and customer service.

Everything looks great! I especially like the brick choice for our raised flower beds, the bricklayer did a great job installing it. The new patio is wonderful and much improved. It was a long wait (quote/deposit was in March, actual job completed early Sept) but it was worth it. Chris always responded to my update inquiries and once the job started, they were able to finish it in a relatively timely manner.

2 yrs later and we really regret using this company. Poured a patio and steps. Patio was supposed to be rounded. They didn’t put forms in that spot so by the time I found the square corner it was too late to fix. To make it right they gave me a discount on a driveway extension. See the photos of that mess. Lots of flaking and holes. Other contractors told me they didn’t float the finish enough to work out the air. The steps did not turn out well but Chris said it was already sealed and to wait two years and he would come back and fix it. Over two months of trying and he won’t come so now I’m getting quotes to have it fixed. Very expensive job and costing me almost as much to fix what I can.

My husband and I hired HR&E back in the fall to do a patio and front porch this spring. Chris and his crew showed up as promised and got to work. We added replacing our driveway because Chris gave us a great deal having his equipment and crew already on sight. His crew showed up every day for a week doing an awesome job. These guys worked so well together and were always busy. These guys do GREAT work! We highly recommend HR&E. Thanks so much guys.
