Jewel Isaac, LLC

Came to Jewel Isaac to start a project for a new retail store in Fairbanks. December 2024 we discussed different options and they seemed very helpful, although never organized, they came up with a rough price of $350-400/sqft with what I was looking for. Speaking with other contractors during that same time, this seemed to be the ballpark and seemed fair to move ahead from my initial concept. April 2025 Dave Long called me asking if I was still interested in the project and even stated "...if I can find some guys and we can do this for $275/sqft, would you say yes?" I told him "yes" and would start looking for an architect. After spending thousands and thousands of dollars on plans, they then turn around and give me a quote in August of over $930/sqft. Yes, nearly 3.5x more than the amount they had called me about less than five months prior. I ended up speaking with some of the subcontractors they received quotes from I quickly realized they were adding $100,000 extra on top of each subcontract quote. Not the ~20% they had told me in all our prior discussions. In a blink of an eye they went from calling me for a $330,000 building to bidding me a $1,100,000 building. Be careful out there! "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out." (Proverbs 10:9)

The team at Jewel Isaac has been wonderful to work with on my new office building project. Seth and his team really listen and offer a wealth of insights on the construction process. My building is on schedule and within the budget which were two important criteria for me. I recommend working with them if you have construction needs.
