Growing up, I was always taught that if you're going to do something, do it well and do it right. Unfortunately, your company has done neither when it comes to paving Highway 77. The entrances to many of the subdivisions and pull-offs have been left in terrible condition and have become a serious safety hazard. I live in Cedar Estates, and before the paving project, you could safely pull off Highway 77 into our subdivision at a reasonable speed to get out of the flow of traffic. That is no longer possible. The transition is so rough that it can damage a vehicle. As a motorcyclist, it's even more dangerous. I have nearly wrecked several times, and I'm not the only one concerned. From Wakefield to BJ's gas station, these uneven transitions are unacceptable. What happened to the standard of putting things back the way they were? The entrance to Cedar Estates used to be smooth and seamless. Now it's so rough that I've ridden over speed bumps that were smoother than the entrance to our subdivision. I also want to address what happened near Rucker Road while your crews were milling the pavement. Most paving companies leave a gradual ramp at the beginning and end of a milled section to prevent a dangerous drop-off or abrupt bump. Your crews did not. I was riding my motorcycle at approximately 60 mph when I hit one of these unmarked transitions. The impact was the hardest jolt I've ever experienced on a motorcycle. At the other end of the milled section, my bike bottomed out again—twice. The damage was severe enough that I had to replace my rear shocks at a cost of $1,200. This project has created unnecessary hazards for motorists, especially motorcyclists. I hope your company will inspect these entrances and transitions, correct the deficiencies.

I drive for a living and see road construction happening all over Kansas and Missouri. It's everywhere! Today I was driving thru Manhattan and a project by Shilling Construction really stood out above the rest. Lots of workers on the job, tons of trucks and equipment, and everyone appeared organized and was working super hard. I was totally impressed!
