Mid-State Paving

The company was working on a neighbors driveway when I asked them to provide a quote. I spoke with David and he explained the process and provided an on-the-spot fair estimate. We shook hands and they came out the next week to complete the job. Everything turned out great. The company is a local family owned business. They did everything as explained, were professional, and completed the project same day. Very happy I chose to work with mid-state. The driveway looks great. Thank you.

I received a text confirming that they'd be here Thursday morning to do my driveway. Wednesday morning, they showed up with an entire crew. I explained that today wouldn't work, since we weren't expecting them, and asked them to come on the scheduled day. Walter was pushy and wanted to do the work today. I pointed out that he'd told me they were coming tomorrow, and I shared the text where it was confirmed. I was told I'd have known they were coming today if I "picked up my phone," at which point I was told he'd called "15 times" the day before. (Zero calls on Tuesday.) I explained that we just weren't ready, and I had to take my kid to school and get ready for work. At that point, I got, "You told me you worked from home!" as if that justified coming any day they wanted? (I work hybrid, so some days I'm onsite and some days remote. This was an onsite day.) I pointed out that my husband's boat was parked on the driveway and couldn't be moved, as he had a lock on the hitch and was away at work. He argued that they would move it anyway by manually dragging it into the neighbor's yard. I said no and kindly asked them to come on the day they had confirmed via text. At this point, Walter got very angry and said they had "already spent a thousand dollars to get this crew out here." He also complained that they wanted to "shut down for the season," which he thought justified coming a day early? I got a full tantrum from an adult man while I stood in my driveway in my bathrobe with my kid watching. He stormed off saying, "I don't want your business anyway - find someone else to do your driveway." I called to speak to the owners because miscommunication happens and I wanted to resolve it - I was even understanding about an employee having a bad day. Dave, one of the owners,
