Not a customer... Recently experienced unprofessional conduct. A truck with trailer was parked on county road with NO safety cones IN a curve. Road is barely 2 vehicles wide making conditions unsafe. Also the employee operating equipment was working on a driveway 2 driveways down from vehicle and was not paying attention as it backed up to the road and nearly hit a vehicle passing the driveway.

Incredibly disappointing and downright unethical experience with Oberstar Inc. We contracted them for a driveway install Sept 2023. The written quote was double what the onsite quote was. We were new to MQT and very nervous about the driveway at our newly purchased home. They steered us to the most expensive option at almost $23k -- we trusted them and went with it. The driveway we got is extremely high and long with a sharp 90º turn, and the high slopes were not secured in any way whatsoever. We also did not receive the grade we were quoted. In less than a year, the sides (with very little rainfall) are eroding, with massive cracks that are cutting into the driving surface. When we contacted them about our concerns, they first ignored us completely then blamed us for the erosion. The driveway was constructed so poorly that the plow person *they recommend to us* refused the job because "I'm not going to risk my vehicle on this unsafe drive". People who come to the house, contractors and other excavation companies all have echoed the same thing. This was obviously the entire reason we spent an astounding amount of money to have a safe and usable driveway. Unfortunately, I could go on about the way we were treated by this company but I'll end by saying the last person who came out (only when we threatened legal action) lied straight to our faces and said to give him one day to speak to the owner and he'd get back with us. That was Oct 28 2024. We have heard nothing. They have taken full payment and taken zero responsibility for their poor work. We have had to hire another company and have paid for more material to try to secure this driveway enough to use it this winter and will have major repair costs next spring. It is sad, gross and disheartening for one of Marquette's biggest excavation companies to treat homeowners and their hard-earned money this way. Great working with Jack and his crew as they hooked up my home to the city sewer.

I was given an estimate for replacing a water line that amounted to $10,600. It took them a week to provide me with an estimate, the estimate was not itemized and was written on a Microsoft Word document (the year is 2023, not 2003). I did the work myself in 3 days, and with the cost of the rental equipment and materials it cost me less than $3k to install a new run from the city side into my home. This company was highly recommended to me by another local business, I will be telling others to steer clear.

Excellent service! Very fair pricing and Jack is great to work with. Very professional and made sure all my concerns were addressed. I’m very pleased with the finished product.
