Patch type matters
Throw-and-roll patches are temporary. Saw-cut, full-depth patches remove the failed material and rebuild it, and typically last much longer.
What to ask contractors
- Patch method (saw-cut full-depth or surface)
- Square footage being repaired
- How cracks will be cleaned before sealing
- Whether a sealcoat after repairs makes sense
Questions
- Should I repair or resurface?
- If failures are isolated, repair. If cracking covers much of the lot, a contractor may recommend milling and overlay. Ask each contractor to explain why.
